Our Story

Caitlin and Aaron first met through mutual friends while living in Big Sky, Montana. Life eventually took them in slightly different directions—Aaron moved to Belgrade in 2019 and Caitlin to Bozeman in 2021—but fate clearly wasn’t done with them yet.

When Aaron heard Caitlin was moving to Bozeman, he bravely did what any modern gentleman would do: he slid into her Instagram DMs. His message offered the use of his truck and help to move her Peloton bike, and Caitlin gladly accepted. What began as friendly help with painting walls and other fixer-upper projects quickly turned into more.

Eventually Aaron worked up the courage to ask Caitlin out on an official date and took her to “Hooked” sushi restaurant in Bozeman…a prophecy perhaps? Then came one of their more memorable dates: trip to the gun range followed by a visit to the pumpkin-less patch, when Aaron asked: “Will you be my girlfriend?”

Soon after, Aaron proved he was in it for the long haul by surviving Christmas in Chicago with Caitlin and the entire McHugh clan. Caitlin knew it was meant to be after the couple was introduced to fruit wine while visiting Mt. Rushmore and survived their first cross-country road trip from Bozeman, MT to Indian Lake, PA and back with the Mutt-ley Crew in tow.

Over the next four years, their life together grew—along with their household. Caitlin and Aaron share three dogs - Busco, Duke and Duchess - who help keep life busy, entertaining, adventurous, and full of fur.

Then came November 11, 2025. They drove out to of town to see the northern lights. Parked on a quiet dirt road, they watched the sky put on one of the most incredible northern lights shows either of them had ever seen. In that moment, Aaron pulled out a ring box and got down on one knee. If you’re reading this – you know Caitlin said yes!

And that’s how an Instagram DM, a Peloton, three dogs, fruit wine, and a little help from the northern lights led them here.
